In addition to natural food sources, Biotin is used extensively in shampoos, conditioners, moisturisers, creams, lotions, serums, masks and nail treatments. Biotin is used in many B-complex vitamin supplements and nutritional supplements indicated especially for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Biotin is manufactured by the natural fermentation action of gram-negative, Escherichia genus bacteria in the presence of a carbohydrate. The Biotin is then isolated from the growth medium.

Biotin is also known as Vitamin H where the ‘H’ stands for “haar” and “haut”, meaning “hair’ and “nails” respectively.

Biotin when consumed in large doses as part of a nutritional supplement may interfere with certain medical laboratory tests. Always consult with your doctor before adding any new supplement to your diet.

Biotin is water soluble.
