Calcium Aluminium Borosilicate is a mineral-derived ingredient.
Calcium Aluminium Borosilicate is used extensively in cosmetic and makeup products like lipstick, base, foundations, bb creams, nail polish, blush and more.
Calcium Aluminium Borosilicate as a cosmetic ingredient is made by combining the raw minerals in a solution of water and then rapidly heating the mixture up to a temperature of 1500°C. It’s held at this temperature for approximately 90 minutes before it is milled into a fine powder.
Calcium sodium borosilicate and calcium aluminum borosilicate are used body sprays and aerosol hair color sprays in concentrations up to 0.8% and face powders up to 97%. 95% to 99% of the particles released from such cosmetic sprays have diameters larger than 10 μm. Therefore, most particles that are incidentally inhaled from cosmetic sprays would be deposited in the nasopharyngeal and bronchial regions and would not enter the lungs.
