Wild Lowbush Blueberries are cultivated on a small scale in the United States. After harvest, the desired active ingredient is extracted from the blueberry fruit using either solvent extraction or supercritical CO2 extraction. Afterwich it’s tested rigorously under laboratory conditions to ensure purity and absence of potential contaminants if solvent extraction is used.

Blueberries are one of the only foods found in nature that are naturally blue in color.
