Stefani Filter Replacement Tap

Bought this to replace the tap in our 26 year old Stefani water filter. Took the advice from a previous review to put a drop of oil on the working parts. It fits well and is working perfectly so far.

My first tap lasted 3 years, my second one 2.5 years. The first one did not break, but the tap mechanism got very loose. With the second one, the little plastic nibs inside broke off. Like everyone else, I think the quality should be better. A guarantee should be provided.

We bought this Stefani Tap for our 26 years old Stefani filter. Before replacing the tap we did as advised in a previous review to apply a drop of oil to the tap working parts. This tap fits very well and is working well.

We love our Stefani water filter, but these taps are made to break, especially if you have kids. We've had to replace ours at least 6x in the 5 years since we bought the filter. The entire mechanism hinges on 2 tiny plastic nipples clamped onto a plastic dowel, and either the nipples shear off or the dowel snaps, but here we are again, forking out R115 for a piece of plastic that really cost a few rand wholesale.

Tap didn't make it to 4 months even, before the spring broke through the plastic and wouldn't turn off. If you disassemble the tap completely, before that happens, and fit a thin, broad washer between the lever arm and the circular base it rides on, it will prevent it wearing out and will distribute the pressure better. I managed to repair mine after the fact, using 2 washers, but it's not the same. Or just get rid of your stefani products and get another brand.
